It is a mighty challenge to establish native plants as there are many invasive species to challenge them, such as fescue, Johnson grass and nodding thistle. I received a cost-share grant from the Kentucky Department of Forestry for removal of three invasive species: Bush Honeysuckle, Ailanthus ‘Tree of Heaven’ and multiflora rose. The grant got us started on the project which, after four years, is ongoing.
